Phase I/North End Opening

North End of 183 South Project Now Open

The northern half of the project is now open to traffic. Between US 290 and Techni Center Drive, drivers have a choice to use the new tolled lanes to bypass the traffic signals at the Loyola Lane and MLK Jr. Boulevard intersections. Drivers who prefer not to pay a toll still have the option to use the improved non-tolled general-purpose lanes. Cross street intersections and pedestrian/bicycle accomodations will open in the coming weeks/months. Drivers should be aware that until the full project is completed, there will continue to be lane closures and travel delays, especially southbound where the new lanes connect with the existing roadway near Techni Center Drive.

Toll Payment Options

The 183 Toll Road utilizes all electronic, or cashless tolling. This means drivers do not have to stop – or even slow down – to pay their tolls.
