Starting February 3 and lasting approximately 6 months, a major lane reduction will occur along MLK Blvd. between Tannehill Lane & Regency Drive. The roadway will be reduced to 1 lane in each direction. Drivers passing through this interchange may experience increased travel delays.

Monday (3/27) from 10 pm to 2 am, there will be a full road closure of US 183 mainlanes between US 290 and Loyola Lane with a rolling roadblock closure where traffic will be stopped and released at intervals. Expect delays and consider alternative routes.

The Texas turnarounds in both directions at Manor/Springdale will be closed for retaining wall and bridge construction. Drivers wishing to complete a turnaround movement will be able to do so at the signalized intersections instead. This closure is anticipated to last one year.

This is to accommodate construction of a new wider bridge at US 183. Once a portion of the new bridge is completed, traffic in both directions will be detoured onto the new bridge so demolition of the old bridge can take place, and the remainder of the new bridge can be constructed.

Beginning March 20 and lasting several weeks, intermittent closures of the Walnut Creek Hike and Bike Trail will occur where the trail crosses underneath the Boggy Creek Bridge. The closures will be limited to 15 minutes at a time, and will be facilitated by flaggers during overhead work to protect the public. To minimize delays for those who bike to work, intermittent closures will occur outside of morning and afternoon peak periods. The trail will remain otherwise accessible during this time period, with the exception of night work which may require full closure of the trail in this section between the hours of 8pm and 6am. This night work will be limited to one or two nights and will be signed in advance.

Detour: westbound traffic will go north to the US 290 U-turn and continue south on the frontage road to Manor; eastbound traffic will go south to Loyola Lane and U-turn to go north to Springdale.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority is building a new tolled expressway with three lanes in each direction on an eight-mile section of US 183 between US 290 and SH 71.

In addition, the Mobility Authority will be reconstructing and improving the non-tolled US 183 general purpose lanes and adding $25 million worth of pedestrian and bicyclist facilities. The project will open in phases between 2019 and 2020, offering greater mobility for all users of the corridor.
