PLEASE NOTE: This Sunday (4/30) is the BP MS 150 Bike Ride, with thousands of cyclists routed through FM 969 (MLK Blvd) heading into downtown throughout the day. The heaviest cyclist travel will be between 11 am and 2 pm. However, some individuals and small groups of riders may travel through prior to and after the main group does. With the lane reduction at MLK Blvd over the US 183 mainlanes, Austin Police Department flaggers will be stationed at intersections along the MLK Blvd route to assist with traffic control. No traffic detours are planned. EXPECT DELAYS IN THE AREA AND PLEASE CONSIDER ALTERNATE ROUTES.

The Texas turnarounds in both directions at Manor/Springdale will be closed for retaining wall and bridge construction. Drivers wishing to complete a turnaround movement will be able to do so at the signalized intersections instead.

A major lane reduction will occur along MLK Blvd. between Tannehill Lane & Regency Drive; the roadway will be reduced to 1 lane in each direction. Drivers passing through this interchange may experience increased travel delays.

This is to accommodate construction of a new wider bridge at US 183. Once a portion of the new bridge is completed, traffic in both directions will be detoured onto the new bridge so demolition of the old bridge can take place, and the remainder of the new bridge can be constructed.

Starting Thursday, April 13 and lasting several months, the southbound Levander Loop U-turn for drivers to head northbound on US 183 WILL BE CLOSED. Follow detour signs to head west on Levander Loop to Shady Lane, Cesar Chavez, and then to the open section of Levander Loop that will direct you to northbound US 183.

Dubuque Lane will be closed at the US 183 southbound frontage road for several months. The section of Dubuque Lane between Lynridge Drive and US 183 will be accessible to local traffic only during this time, and construction barricades will be in place. Traffic will detour via Langston Drive to Lynridge Drive.

Detour: westbound traffic will go north to the US 290 U-turn and continue south on the frontage road to Manor; eastbound traffic will go south to Loyola Lane and U-turn to go north to Springdale.

Starting April 25, Central Avenue and Bluestein Drive are temporarily closed at their intersections with northbound US 183 for utility work and will remain closed for approximately 12 months. Traffic is being detoured via Techni Center Drive and Semi-Conductor Drive.

Wednesday (4/26) beginning at 12 am, the sweeping right from southbound US 183 onto Thompson Lane is temporarily closed for utility work for several weeks. Large trucks heading to the gravel pits will not be able to maneuver the tight right turn, and will follow the signed detour. Cars will be unaffected.

The Central Texas Regional Mobility Authority is building a new tolled expressway with three lanes in each direction on an eight-mile section of US 183 between US 290 and SH 71.

In addition, the Mobility Authority will be reconstructing and improving the non-tolled US 183 general purpose lanes and adding $25 million worth of pedestrian and bicyclist facilities. The project will open in phases between 2019 and 2020, offering greater mobility for all users of the corridor.
